Workshops
We believe that building a strong community of young students and professionals is essential for the long-term sustenance of Tech-for-Good products and for bringing more talent into this space. As part of C4GT, we conduct periodic workshops to introduce students to the open-source ecosystem and the DPG and Tech-for-good landscape.
For example, our SheCodes workshops are a focused effort to introduce women in STEM to open source, Digital Public Goods, and the broader Tech-for-good ecosystem.
This workshop successfully created an inclusive, supportive space for 50 women to begin their open-source and public tech journeys. Over two days of expert-led sessions, participants gained foundational understanding of open source, DPGs, DPIs, and hands-on GitHub skills. In the following week, they applied this learning by contributing to good-first issues from @Mifos and @Medic with mentor support. Many made their first-ever open-source contributions, boosting their confidence and reinforcing the value of dedicated spaces for women in tech. #SheCodes has set a strong foundation for a growing community of women contributors in the Tech-for-Good ecosystem.
