Our project, Auto Subtitler, aims to tackle the literacy gap in India, where 600 million weak readers struggle to read even simple texts. As part of the BIRD (Billion Readers) initiative, we developed a tool to accelerate the adoption of Same Language Subtitling (SLS) on mainstream media. By generating SRT files from video and text files, our tool provides regular reading exposure to weak readers and those with accessibility needs. We support multiple Indian languages, enhancing literacy through seamless integration of subtitles into everyday content.
